Daniela Ruah to Direct Romantic Short Film ‘My Type’ Starring Sadie Stanley and Jacob Ward
Exclusive News: Daniela Ruah, renowned for her role in NCIS: Los Angeles, is stepping into the director’s chair for the romantic short film My Type. The film features rising stars Sadie Stanley, known for Cruel Summer, and Jacob Ward from The Summer House. Inspired by a true story, My Type explores the poignant connection between two twenty-somethings who bond over their shared experiences with Type 1 Diabetes, leading to an unexpected romance.
Filmed on 16mm to capture a vintage aesthetic, this project brings Ruah together once again with cinematographer Rafael Leyva, celebrated for his work on Narcos: Mexico. The film is produced by Nicole MacNaughton and her sister Kimberly Pinkson under their production company, High High Productions. Currently, filming is taking place in the picturesque setting of Santa Barbara.
“We aimed to tell a story that feels both deeply personal and universally hopeful,” Ruah expressed. “It’s about discovering love in unexpected places and focusing on the person behind the diagnosis.”
Caroline Williams Takes the Lead in Indie Horror Film ‘Anathema: The Devil’s Doll’
In other exciting news, Caroline Williams, famed for her role in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, will star in the indie horror film Anathema: The Devil’s Doll. Directed by Marcel Walz and produced by Anathema LLC, the film begins shooting this month. It follows a group of friends whose carefree night spirals into chaos when they stumble upon an ancient curse, forcing them to survive until dawn as a malevolent entity hunts them down.
Principal photography is already underway, with a talented cast that includes Robert Craighead, Ramiro Leale, Bix Krieger, Esmeree Sterling, Erika K. Marks, and more. Producers Brendan Petrizzo and Michael P. Call, along with co-writer Marc Gotlieb, aim to release this chilling indie film in 2026. A sneak peek image is available above.
