Exciting Partnership: TomKat Media Teams Up with Killer Films for New Projects

In a groundbreaking move, TomKat Media has officially partnered with Killer Films to collaboratively produce a range of innovative projects. This creative alliance will allow TomKat Media to provide development funding for various projects from Killer Films, while also co-producing select films from TomKat’s slate.

One of the standout projects in this partnership is the adaptation of Duff Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize finalist eco-thriller, Fateful Harvest. The screenplay is being crafted by Daniel Stiepleman, known for his work on On the Basis of Sex. This gripping narrative is based on an investigative series reported by Wilson for the Seattle Times, which uncovered a shocking truth: Patty Martin, the mayor of Quincy, a small town in Washington, discovers that American industries are secretly dumping toxic waste into local farmers’ fields and gardens under the guise of “fertilizer.”

Another intriguing project in development is Box No. 1, a feature drama that delves into the secret love letters exchanged between Eleanor Roosevelt and journalist Lorena “Hick” Hickok. The screenplay for this project is being penned by TomKat’s own Marcela Davison Aviles. Both Kat Taylor and Davison Aviles will produce these compelling stories for TomKat Media, with Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler taking on producing duties for Killer Films.

Kat Taylor expressed her enthusiasm for this collaboration, stating, “We’re thrilled to partner with Christine and Pamela to bring these powerful stories from often unheard voices to a wider audience. Our goal is to share uplifting narratives that resonate with themes of resilience, hope, courage, and love.”

Davison Aviles added her praise for Killer Films, remarking, “Their creativity captivates millions and delivers beauty and inspiration.” Christine Vachon, co-president of Killer Films, emphasized the shared mission of both companies: “Killer and TomKat are dedicated to showcasing underrepresented, impactful stories on the big screen. This partnership will enhance our ability to ensure the survival of these vital films that both entertain and make audiences feel seen.”

Killer Films, renowned for its indie classics, has recently produced several notable titles, including Late Fame, Materialists, A Different Man, On Swift Horses, and May December. Vachon and Koffler are represented by Cinetic.

TomKat Media, founded with a mission to develop and produce content from historically marginalized storytellers across various platforms—including film, television, podcasts, and the performing arts—is represented by Rick Berg and Rich Freeman at Code Management, as well as attorneys Bill Skrzyniarz and Tanya Mallean.

Both Wilson and Martin for Fateful Harvest are represented by Echo Lake Entertainment, with Stiepleman represented by Frank Wuliger at Gersh.

Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting projects that promise to bring unique and meaningful stories to the forefront of cinema!
