WNBA All-Star Game 2025: Napheesa Collier Shatters Scoring Record in Team Victory

In an electrifying WNBA All-Star Game held on Saturday night, Team Napheesa Collier triumphed over Team Caitlin Clark with a score of 151-131. The standout performance came from Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier, who not only led her team to victory but also set a new scoring record with an impressive 36 points, surpassing the previous record held by Dallas Wings’ Arike Ogunbowale.

Collier, a five-time All-Star, is having a stellar season, averaging 23.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Her contributions have been pivotal in propelling the Lynx to the top of the WNBA standings with an impressive 20-4 record at the season’s midpoint.

In addition to Collier’s record-breaking performance, Seattle Storm’s Skylar Diggins made history by achieving the first triple-double in WNBA All-Star Game history, recording 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 15 assists. Indiana Fever’s Kelsey Mitchell led Team Clark with 20 points.

However, the All-Star Game wasn’t just about the on-court performances. Players took a united stand advocating for fair compensation, wearing shirts that read, "Pay Us What You Owe Us" during warm-ups. Fans echoed their sentiments, chanting "Pay them" during the award presentations. Collier highlighted the importance of the fans’ support, stating, "The crowd is saying it for us."

WNBA Players’ Association president Nneka Ogwumike commended the players for leveraging their platform to raise awareness about the ongoing collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations. "I’m inspired by the level of player engagement we saw today," she said. "This is crucial for driving change."

Despite the ongoing negotiations, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert expressed optimism about reaching a transformative deal. “I’m hopeful that we’ll make significant progress and be celebrating our accomplishments next year at the All-Star Game,” she stated.

The players recently met with league officials, but no agreement was reached, prompting criticism from various athletes, including Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese. She expressed her disappointment with the league’s proposals, emphasizing the need for players to be vocal about their demands.

New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu made it clear that the players are not willing to settle for "the minimum" in negotiations. Meanwhile, Phoenix Mercury’s Satou Sabally described the league’s latest CBA offer as a "slap in the face."
