Pedro Pascal was originally cast to star in the lead role of the mystery horror film “Weapons,” but the role eventually went to Josh Brolin. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, writer and director Zach Cregger explained the reasons behind this casting change.
Cregger shared, “I had a whole different cast for this movie. Then we faced the strike, which complicated Pedro Pascal’s schedule and threw everything into disarray. I had to recast the entire film.” Pascal was set to portray Archer Graff, the father of one of the missing children at the center of the story. Cregger continued, “The strikes caused delays, and with delays come scheduling conflicts. It felt like a domino effect, leading us back to square one. I hold no resentment toward anyone; it was just the nature of the situation.”
Pascal was not the only actor affected by the changes; other cast members, including Brian Tyree Henry and Renate Reinsve, also had to drop out. Despite not being in “Weapons,” this year has been a busy one for Pedro Pascal, who continues to impress audiences with his performances. He starred in several notable projects, including Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” A24’s “Eddington,” and HBO’s critically acclaimed series “The Last of Us.” Additionally, Pascal appeared in Celine Song’s film “Materialists.”
