Viola Davis Joins Amazon for New Conspiracy Thriller "Ally Clark"
After her standout performance in Amazon MGM Studios’ action film "G20," Academy Award-winning actress Viola Davis is set to collaborate with the streaming giant once again, this time for an intriguing conspiracy thriller titled "Ally Clark." The film will be directed by Phillip Noyce, a seasoned filmmaker known for his expertise in the thriller genre, with acclaimed titles like "Clear and Present Danger," "Salt," and "Rabbit-Proof Fence" under his belt.
The project is being produced by the legendary Irwin Winkler, famed for his work on classics such as "Rocky," "Goodfellas," and "The Alto Knights." Joining him in the production team are Charlies Winker and David Winkler from Winkler Films, as well as Jose Ruisanchez. Viola Davis is not only starring in "Ally Clark" but is also part of the producing team alongside her husband, Julius Tennon, through their company, JuVee Productions.
The screenplay, crafted by Ruisanchez and Irwin Winkler, follows the gripping story of investigator Ally Clark, portrayed by Davis. The narrative kicks off when Ally embarks on a dangerous investigation into an international conglomerate after the suspicious death of a close friend. Her journey will take her from the iconic marble halls of Washington, D.C., through the humid bayous of Louisiana, and up to the frigid peaks of Alaska. Currently, the project is in the development phase, with Melanie Clark from JuVee Productions serving as the executive producer.
Davis’ recent film "G20" was a significant success for Amazon Prime Video, debuting at number one on Nielsen’s movie chart during its opening week with an impressive 516 million minutes streamed. As both the star and producer of "G20," Davis continues to emphasize her commitment to creating socially relevant entertainment through JuVee Productions, which focuses on inclusion and amplifying underrepresented voices.
