Vin Diesel Announces Final Fast & Furious Film Set for April 2027 Release
Vin Diesel delighted fans at FuelFest in Southern California on Saturday by revealing that the much-anticipated final installment of the Fast & Furious franchise is scheduled to hit theaters in April 2027. Diesel, a cornerstone of the series since its inception in 2001, shared more exciting details during his onstage appearance, including that the new film will take place in Los Angeles and will bring back his iconic character, Dominic Toretto, alongside Brian O’Conner, portrayed by the late Paul Walker.
Paul Walker, who starred alongside Diesel in the original film and appeared in five installments, tragically passed away in a car accident in November 2013 at the age of 40. Diesel has previously taken to social media to advocate for Universal Pictures to announce the release date for this sequel, known as Fast X 2, which follows the success of 2013’s Fast X, earning over $700 million worldwide. This sequel is being promoted as the franchise’s grand finale.
In his remarks, Diesel emphasized the importance of returning the film’s production to Los Angeles, the birthplace of the franchise. He stated, “Los Angeles needs it now more than ever… Fast and Furious started filming here 25 years ago, and now Fast will finally return home.” His commitment to the city comes in the wake of the devastating wildfires that affected the area earlier this year.
Currently, there are no major films scheduled for release in April 2027, providing a prime opportunity for the Fast & Furious franchise to make a significant impact. Notably, 2015’s Furious 7, the most successful film in the franchise, opened in April and achieved a record-breaking $147.2 million during its opening weekend, ultimately grossing over $1.5 billion globally.
As fans eagerly await more updates, Diesel’s latest announcement has reignited excitement for the conclusion of this beloved series. Stay tuned for further news as we approach the release date!
