Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton faced a tough challenge during the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, as he battled through a calf injury. Unfortunately, in Game 7 on Sunday night, Haliburton seemed to aggravate the injury, raising concerns for the Pacers and their fans.
The game started strongly for Haliburton, who quickly made an impact by sinking three 3-pointers in the first quarter, helping Indiana take an early lead. However, while trying to drive past Thunder MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Haliburton slipped and fell, losing control of the ball. As the camera focused on him, he was seen on the court, visibly in distress and pounding his fist on the ground in pain.
The Pacers’ bench quickly surrounded Haliburton as trainers rushed to assist him. The game was temporarily halted as he was helped off the court, leaving fans and teammates anxious about his condition.
According to Indiana’s reports, Haliburton suffered a lower right-leg injury and would not return to the game. His father, John Haliburton, later mentioned that his son might have sustained an Achilles injury, adding to the concern.
Throughout the playoffs, Haliburton had been instrumental to the Pacers’ success. He delivered key performances, including crucial shots in the first round against the Milwaukee Bucks, disappointing Cleveland Cavaliers fans in the second round, and sending a strong message to the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. His contributions were vital, and he continued to shine in the NBA Finals, making significant shots to keep the Pacers competitive against one of the top teams in the league.
Despite the injury, Haliburton had already scored 14 points in the Pacers’ Game 6 victory, which had secured their place in the decisive Game 7.
