Bali Police Arrest Two Suspects in Fatal Shooting of Australian Tourist

Bali police have made significant progress in their investigation into a tragic shooting that resulted in the death of an Australian tourist and left another seriously injured. Zivan Radmanovic, 32, was fatally shot shortly after midnight on Saturday when two men forcibly entered his villa in Munggu, a popular area on the Indonesian island.

Authorities reported that one suspect was apprehended in Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital, while the other was captured abroad. Details surrounding the arrests remain limited as the investigation continues.

In a heartbreaking account, Mr. Radmanovic’s wife told police that she was awakened by her husband’s screams and discovered his body in the bathroom. Meanwhile, Sanar Ghanim, 34, who was also shot during the incident, is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries in the hospital. Reports indicate that Mr. Ghanim was not only shot but also physically assaulted. Fortunately, both wives of the victims were unharmed.

Witnesses provided valuable information to the police, stating that they heard the assailants speaking in English with distinct Australian accents. One suspect was described as wearing an orange jacket and a dark helmet, while the other was seen in a dark green jacket, a black mask, and a dark helmet. Eyewitnesses reported overhearing one of the attackers expressing frustration about a motorcycle, saying, “I can’t start my bike,” before they managed to flee on a scooter.

Police have collected substantial evidence from the crime scene, including 17 bullet casings, two intact projectiles, and 55 bullet fragments. Images released by Australian media depict the villa with visible bullet holes in the windows and bloodstains on the floor.

The shooting occurred in Badung, a bustling tourist district in Bali known for its famous beaches like Kuta and Canggu. While Bali is generally considered a safe destination for millions of international tourists each year, incidents of violent crime are relatively rare.

As the investigation unfolds, local authorities are working diligently to uncover the motive behind this shocking crime and ensure justice is served. Stay tuned for updates as we continue to follow this developing story.
