Thomas Tuchel Praises AFC Bournemouth’s Performance as Alex Scott Earns England Call-Up

In a recent press conference, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel commended AFC Bournemouth for their exceptional performance this season, describing them as "overperforming constantly." His remarks came in light of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott’s first-time selection for the England national team ahead of the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Serbia and Albania.

Scott, who played a pivotal role in helping Lee Carsley’s U21 squad clinch the UEFA Euro title this past summer alongside teammate Elliot Anderson, has made a significant impact at Bournemouth. Currently, the club is enjoying a remarkable start to the season, sitting in fifth place and trailing second-place Manchester City by just one point.

Tuchel expressed his admiration for Scott’s progress, stating, "He had an excellent Euros. Winning the title alongside Lee Carsley, who praised him highly, showcased his talent. In midfield, he excelled, working seamlessly with Elliot Anderson, who is now a regular starter for us."

Highlighting Scott’s development, Tuchel noted, "He has stepped up to become a consistent starter for Bournemouth, a team that’s performing well above expectations. His intensity and reliability on the pitch led us to believe this is the perfect moment to reward him with a call-up and see how he can contribute to our squad."

In addition to Scott’s inclusion, Tuchel welcomed back key players Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden to the England squad. "These are big names with enormous talent. It’s fantastic to see both of them in form, contributing crucial goals to their teams," he remarked. "Selecting them was an obvious choice, as we plan to utilize their skills in central roles to maximize their potential."

The Three Lions also marked the return of goalkeeper Nick Pope, who has been called up for the first time since October 2024. The Newcastle shot-stopper has been in outstanding form this season, having fully recovered from a shoulder injury.

Tuchel praised Pope’s performance, stating, "Nick has had a fantastic season with Newcastle, playing regular Champions League football. This call-up is our way of recognizing his contributions and showing our respect for his hard work. We look forward to meeting him in person and understanding what he can bring to the team."

With these exciting developments, England is gearing up for the crucial World Cup Qualifiers, bolstered by fresh talent and experienced players alike.
