One of boxing’s most thrilling trilogies is set to continue this Friday night at the iconic Madison Square Garden. Katie Taylor (24-1) and Amanda Serrano (47-3-1) will face off for the third time, returning to the venue where they made history in 2022 as the first female main event.
In their previous bouts, Taylor emerged victorious against Serrano, first winning by a split decision in New York and then by a controversial unanimous decision in their November rematch, which was part of the co-main event featuring Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson. This last fight saw Taylor sustain a significant eye injury from a headbutt, leading to a point deduction, despite Serrano landing 107 more punches.
As the two prepare for their upcoming clash, Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions alongside Jake Paul, emphasized the need for Serrano to adopt a fresh strategy. "She has to go out and do something different. The onus is on Amanda and her team to innovate," Bidarian stated in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.
Katie Taylor, reflecting on the stakes of the match, noted that "Serrano needs this fight more than I do," while expressing her desire to participate in the most significant bouts possible.
Bidarian added that Taylor likely feels compelled to prove herself, particularly in light of the perception surrounding their last fight. "It can be frustrating to hear people say you didn’t win. I think she wants to ensure that, beyond just the scorecards, fans feel that Katie Taylor unequivocally defeated Amanda Serrano," he explained.
The two fighters electrified audiences last year at AT&T Stadium, and Bidarian believes boxing enthusiasts are on the brink of witnessing one of the greatest trilogies in sports history. "Even though it’s 2-0 for Katie Taylor on paper, those were incredibly close and debatable fights. I’m confident they will deliver once again in this third encounter," he said.
As for Bidarian’s prediction? "Amanda Serrano by stoppage," he declared confidently.
