Easter Egg Confirms Flash and JSA’s Existence in James Gunn’s DC Universe

The highly anticipated Superman movie, which hit theaters worldwide on July 11, has unveiled an exciting Easter egg that confirms the presence of both the Flash and the Justice Society of America (JSA) within James Gunn’s DC Universe (DCU). Starring David Corenswet in the iconic role, this film marks the beginning of the DCU’s new chapter, aptly titled "Gods and Monsters."

Superman Movie Reveals JSA and Jay Garrick’s Flash

In a thrilling twist, the film showcases a mural in the Hall of Justice that reveals the Flash, along with other legendary heroes from the JSA. As the story unfolds, Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane, portrayed by Rachel Brosnahan, investigates the mysterious disappearance of Superman. Her quest leads her to the Hall of Justice, where she seeks assistance from the Justice Gang, including Green Lantern Guy Gardner (played by Nathan Fillion), Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), and Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced).

During their conversation, the mural becomes a focal point, brilliantly depicting the JSA, the first superhero team in the DC universe. Fans can spot iconic characters such as Jay Garrick’s Flash, the original Sandman Wesley Dodds, and many others within the stunning artwork. The JSA made its debut in All-Star Comics #3 back in 1940, establishing itself as the pioneering team of metahumans, which includes notable members like Green Lantern, Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Hourman, the Spectre, Atom, and of course, the Flash.

A Rich History of Metahumans in the DCU

James Gunn’s vision suggests that metahumans have been part of the DCU for over three centuries. Speaking at a pre-release event in London, Gunn teased the significance of the Easter eggs, stating, “There’s an iconic scene with a huge mural in the background that tells you the story of metahumans in the DCU. That’s going to be really fun when we release those images to the public. The depth of the world we’ve created is truly exciting.”

This Easter egg not only enriches the storyline but also builds anticipation for future films in the DCU, connecting fans to the rich legacy of these beloved characters.

Stay tuned for more updates as the DC Universe continues to expand and reveal its incredible heroes!
