Could a Spike Lee and Timothée Chalamet Movie Collaboration Be on the Horizon?
Fans often spot Spike Lee and Timothée Chalamet enjoying New York Knicks games together, but could we soon see them collaborate on a film? On a recent episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast, the Oscar-winning director cleared the air about any supposed rivalry with the young actor, especially regarding their shared passion for the Knicks.
During the podcast, host Bill Simmons remarked, “I feel Chalamet is in your corner a little bit, and I want to make sure you’re good because he’s become the signature Knicks fan.” He inquired whether there was any tension between them. Lee quickly dismissed any notion of competition, stating, “There’s no rivalry and no competition at all.” In fact, he expressed his desire to work with Chalamet once his schedule allows, saying, “He’s a good guy, a real Knicks fan, and a great actor. We’ve talked about doing a film together, but it might be a while—probably in the next four or five years.”
Interestingly, Lee noted that their potential project would “have nothing to do with sports,” highlighting the creative possibilities beyond their shared fandom.
Currently, Timothée Chalamet is busy with numerous projects, including a press tour for his upcoming film Marty Supreme, as well as roles in James Mangold’s High Side and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, which is expected to premiere in December 2026. Meanwhile, Spike Lee is promoting his latest film, Highest 2 Lowest, featuring Denzel Washington and Jeffrey Wright, while also developing projects like Prince of Cats and Da Understudy.
