A thrilling new horror-comedy is set to humorously dissect Generation X culture. Directed by Todd Berger, the upcoming satirical slasher film, The Big Kill, is currently in production under the banner of Live Nation Studios, as exclusively reported by The Hollywood Reporter. This film is a nostalgic homage to the Gen X era, featuring iconic 1990s music that will surely resonate with audiences.
The star-studded ensemble cast includes genre favorites such as Skeet Ulrich (Five Nights at Freddy’s 2), Alicia Witt (Longlegs), Jolene (Star Trek: Enterprise), and Megan Suri (Companion). Comedy fans will also recognize familiar faces like Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Pete Holmes (Woman of the Hour), Natasha Leggero (The Do-Over), Morgan Jay (St. Denis Medical), Trevor Wallace (Drugstore June), and Steph Tolev (Tires).
The Big Kill follows a group of lifelong friends and their families who gather at a secluded cabin after a funeral. Things take a dark turn when a mysterious killer begins to stalk the group, forcing the friends to confront their own troubled pasts. Todd Berger, known for It’s a Disaster, directs the film from a sharp script written by Emmy-winning Daily Show writer Daniel Radosh. The production team comprises Live Nation Studios and Mason Novick from MXN Entertainment, with Ryan Kroft serving as executive producer.

Director Todd Berger shared his personal connection to the project, stating, “Seeing Scream in theaters as a teen was a revelation for me. It featured characters my age who spoke like we really did. However, over the years, I noticed that slasher protagonists didn’t seem to age like the rest of us. Now, getting the chance to create a horror comedy about fellow Gen Xers—complete with kids, mortgages, and existential musings—alongside a brilliantly witty script and an amazing cast is a dream come true.”
Mason Novick also weighed in, highlighting the challenge of creating a successful horror comedy: “It’s essential to balance both laughs and scares.
