Exciting News: The Scorpions Biopic "Wind of Change" Begins Production
Get ready, rock music fans! ESX Entertainment is thrilled to announce the production of "Wind of Change," an exhilarating biopic about the legendary German rock band, the Scorpions. This iconic group played a pivotal role in shaping the cultural landscape during the end of the Cold War, using their music as a powerful bridge to peace and unity.
The star-studded cast features notable actors including Dominic West from "The Crown," Alexander Dreymon of "The Last Kingdom," Ludwig Trepte from "Generation War," Ed Speleers of "You," David Kross from "The Reader," and Luke Brandon Field known for "Interview with the Vampire" and "Jojo Rabbit." Filming is currently underway at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in London, with a theatrical release expected later this year.
In a significant move, FOX Entertainment Global has secured worldwide distribution rights for the film, excluding the U.S. and certain global transactions, which will be overseen by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Content Sales. Directed by Alex Ranarivelo and produced by ESX Entertainment in collaboration with FOX Entertainment Studios and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, "Wind of Change" tells the inspiring story of the Scorpions and their most enduring lineup, featuring guitarist Rudolf Schenker (played by Dreymon), lead vocalist Klaus Meine (Trepte), bassist Matthias Jab (Speleers), and drummer Herman Rarebell (Field).
At its core, the film showcases the band’s commitment to using their music as a catalyst for change, with their iconic anthem "Wind of Change" serving as a symbol of hope and unity during a transformative period in history. The Scorpions’ powerful hits, including "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and "Still Loving You," have not only left an indelible mark on the music industry but also helped bridge the divide between East and West during a critical time.
Dominic West will portray Doc McGhee, the Scorpions’ renowned music manager, while David Kross takes on the role of Andrej, the band’s friend imprisoned on the other side of the Berlin Wall. Ali Afshar, Founder and President of ESX Entertainment, expressed his excitement, stating, “Bringing this film to life has been an incredible journey. The Scorpions’ music helped me overcome significant challenges as an Iranian immigrant in America during the ’80s. Their message of love, peace, and rock ‘n’ roll is more relevant now than ever. I’m grateful to FOX Entertainment, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, and especially to the band—Rudolf, Klaus, and Matthias—for trusting us to share their story.”
With over 110 million albums sold globally, the Scorpions have established themselves as one of the most influential rock bands over the past fifty years. Their timeless hits continue to resonate with audiences, with "Wind of Change" surpassing one billion streams and remaining a cultural touchstone. The band continues to tour worldwide, solidifying their legacy in rock history.
"Wind of Change" is produced by ESX Entertainment’s Ali Afshar, Christina Moore, and Daniel Aspromonte, with a screenplay by Mark Andrews. Directed by Alex Ranarivelo, the film promises to be a captivating tribute to the Scorpions and their incredible journey through music and history.
