In an interview with The Times, Johansson remarked, "The messaging is different now. There are many more role models, and women are increasingly visible in powerful positions. I’ve been fortunate to portray characters that are multidimensional, rather than being confined to one-dimensional roles." She reflected on her earlier career, noting, "When I was younger, many of the roles I pursued were often centered around a female character’s desirability or were tied to male-centric narratives. Thankfully, that is becoming less common—something has definitely shifted."
Johansson made her film debut at the young age of 9 in the 1994 film North. Since then, she has starred in numerous acclaimed movies, including The Horse Whisperer (1998), Ghost World (2001), Lost in Translation (2003), and had a decade-long journey in the MCU, culminating in her standalone feature, Black Widow, released in 2021.
