Republican Senators Demand Action Against Sanctuary Cities Impeding Immigration Law Enforcement
Republican senators have expressed their frustration with liberal sanctuary cities, such as Los Angeles, that obstruct federal immigration authorities from enforcing the law. Some lawmakers are calling for legislative action to cut funding to these cities.
Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) emphasized the need for accountability, stating, "We have to say, ‘Enough is enough.’ I don’t understand why we would continue to give federal dollars to entities that don’t follow federal law. Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) further criticized the situation, stating, “We have enabled this kind of bad behavior for too long. Nobody is above the law. If mayors, county executives, or governors are not following federal law, that’s entirely unacceptable. Federal funding is a tool we can use to address this.” He called for all Republicans to take a firm stance on this issue.
Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) echoed these sentiments, asserting that sanctuary cities should not receive federal funding.
