Protests Erupt Outside Gold Cup Soccer Match as Fans Rally Against Immigration Policies

You can now listen to Fox News articles! Recent photos and videos captured the passionate protests outside the Gold Cup soccer match between Mexico and the Dominican Republic at SoFi Stadium on Saturday, June 14, 2025. One protester, Daniel Fuentes, shared his thoughts during an interview with The Los Angeles Times, voicing his concerns about President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

Protest Highlights in Inglewood, CA

The protests unfolded in front of the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, where soccer fans gathered for the highly anticipated Concacaf Gold Cup match. "I am a soccer fan, but today, we are here for more than just the game," Fuentes stated in Spanish. "It’s unjust for President Trump to label our hardworking community as criminals. The narrative against us Latinos is damaging and false."

As tensions surrounding immigration enforcement in Southern California heightened, there were fears of potential ICE raids disrupting the event, casting a shadow over the festivities.

Call for Compassion from Mexican President

In response to the unrest, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum urged U.S. immigration officials to refrain from any actions that would affect fans attending the match. "We believe that no immigration enforcement should take place at a soccer game," Sheinbaum said during a press conference on Friday. "Mexico will always promote peace."

A Somber Atmosphere Amidst the Excitement

Many fans at the game expressed a sense of unease, sharing with The Los Angeles Times that the usual celebratory atmosphere was dampened. "When the Mexican team plays, it’s typically a joyous occasion. But today felt different," remarked a fan known as "El Coronel." He added, "We don’t feel right celebrating with music and food while our loved ones are suffering due to these harsh policies."
