Pamela Anderson Joins the Cast of The Naked Gun Reboot: A Look Back at Her Near Miss in the Franchise
Exciting news for fans of classic comedy! Pamela Anderson is set to make her mark in the much-anticipated reboot of The Naked Gun. In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, the iconic actress revealed that she almost landed a role in the franchise back in the 1990s.
So, what role did Pamela Anderson nearly play in Naked Gun? Anderson shared that she was in talks to star in the 1994 film Naked Gun 33 1⁄3: The Final Insult. The character she was considered for was Tanya Peters, played by Anna Nicole Smith, who is Rocco’s (Fred Ward) girlfriend and a nurse at a fertility clinic. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, Anderson couldn’t take on the role but expressed that she doesn’t have any regrets. “The part that Anna Nicole [Smith] played, I almost played,” Anderson said. “It was just scheduling. I couldn’t do it. But it’s good: I’d rather play this role.”
In the same interview, Anderson shared her enthusiasm for her role in the upcoming reboot, describing her on-set experience as a joy. She enjoyed working alongside Liam Neeson, stating, “We just had a ball. I was always showering him with loaves of bread and cookies and muffins.” She also fondly recalled a moment when Neeson discovered a poetry book by Ibsen and shared insights with her. As a thoughtful gesture for his birthday, Anderson gifted him a first-edition Hemingway, noting, “He’s always got a book in hand, and the same with me.”
Directed and executive produced by Akiva Schaffer from The Lonely Island (known for Hot Rod), the new Naked Gun film has been in development since 2022. The talented cast includes Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, and Danny Huston. The screenplay is co-written by Schaffer, Dan Gregor, and Doug Mand, with Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins producing for Fuzzy Door, alongside executive producers Daniel M. Stillman, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary.
