Exciting News: David Berry Joins R-Rated Wedding Comedy ‘Something Blue’
We’re thrilled to announce that David Berry, known for his roles in Outlander and A Place to Call Home, is set to star in the upcoming R-rated wedding comedy Something Blue, which is currently in development. This project marks a return to U.S. filmmaking for British writer-director Gary Sinyor, who last directed the 1999 romantic comedy The Bachelor featuring Renée Zellweger.
Something Blue tells the humorous story of a man preparing for his second wedding to a woman who is experiencing her first. Discussions are already underway with potential financiers to bring this autobiographical tale to life.
Veteran director Gary Sinyor, along with Australian actor David Berry—who captivates audiences as Lord John Grey in the Starz hit Outlander—recently collaborated on Sinyor’s TV series Hapless, available for streaming on Peacock in the U.S. and Prime Video in the UK. Sinyor praised Berry’s "laidback Aussie charm," noting how it beautifully contrasts with the comedic chaos surrounding him in the film. He shared, “Now we just need to find his equally charming bride.”
The casting process aims to blend established talent with emerging stars from social media, giving fresh actors a chance to make their mark in mainstream cinema. Sinyor expressed his excitement about returning to U.S. filmmaking, stating, “It’s been too long since I shot in the U.S. Some say Hollywood has given up on comedy, but comedy should never give up on Hollywood. I believe in the importance of filming on location and supporting the U.S. industry, which has a rich history of producing hilarious comedies.”
Stay tuned for more updates on Something Blue as this promising project continues to develop!
