Nicholas Alexander Chavez Reflects on His Experience with "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and Hints at Future Possibilities
While Nicholas Alexander Chavez may not have made the final cut of the much-anticipated sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer, he remains optimistic about future opportunities in the franchise. After filming a scene alongside Lola Tung that ultimately didn’t make it into the final version of the movie, Chavez shared his thoughts on the experience with Us Weekly.
“Jennifer is a great friend and an incredible director,” Chavez stated, expressing his admiration for writer/director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. He fondly recalled the fun moments he shared with Lola during filming, but also acknowledged the realities of the filmmaking process. “That’s just part of the industry,” he noted.
Reflecting on his time in Australia while filming, Chavez reminisced about unique experiences like hanging out with kangaroos, enjoying hot air balloon rides at sunrise, and going cherry picking with his girlfriend. “When I think about that movie, those are the memories that stand out to me,” he said.
When asked about the character he portrayed in the deleted scene, Chavez playfully replied, “That’s left for others to speculate!”
The cast of I Know What You Did Last Summer includes notable names like Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Madelyn Cline. With the film hinting at the possibility of a sequel, Chavez expressed his openness to returning to the horror franchise. “You know, ask me tomorrow, and I might have a completely different perspective,” he mentioned. “At this stage in my career, what matters most is working on meaningful projects with people I trust and respect.”
After Deadline broke the news of Chavez and Tung’s casting, Robinson addressed the decision to cut their scenes during an interview with People. “In filmmaking, sometimes the best-laid plans don’t translate during the editing process,” she explained. “While both Lola and Nicholas are incredibly talented, their scenes simply didn’t fit into the overall narrative of the film.”
Robinson expressed her disappointment over the decision, stating, “It’s tough because you never want to let down your actors. It’s hard when you love a scene but find that it doesn’t work in the final cut.”
With the door still open for future collaborations, fans are eager to see what lies ahead for Nicholas Alexander Chavez and the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise.
