Tragic Mass Shooting at NFL Headquarters in Midtown Manhattan: An Employee Seriously Injured

In a shocking incident at the NFL’s headquarters located at 345 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, an employee was reported to be "seriously injured" during a mass shooting. This tragic event unfolded in a building that also serves as the league’s office space, situated at the intersection of 52nd Street and Park Avenue.

The shooting occurred on July 28, 2025, leaving five individuals dead, including a dedicated NYPD officer. The gunman, who ultimately took his own life, unleashed chaos within the building, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell communicated the distressing news to all league employees via a message obtained by Fox News Digital. In his announcement, Goodell stated, "As has been widely reported, a gunman committed an unspeakable act of violence in our building at 345 Park Avenue. One of our employees was seriously injured in this attack. He is currently in the hospital and in stable condition. NFL staff are at the hospital, and we are supporting his family."

Fortunately, Goodell reassured that all other employees were safe and accounted for, and the building was nearly cleared. He urged employees to remain vigilant and pay attention to emergency notifications as the situation developed.

Identifying the Victims and the Shooter

The fallen officer has been identified as Didarul Islam, a 36-year-old immigrant from Bangladesh who leaves behind two sons and a pregnant wife. He was one of the two uniformed officers present at the NFL headquarters, although he was off-duty, working security for Rudin Management Company.

In a heartfelt message, Goodell expressed gratitude for the law enforcement officers who responded swiftly to the crisis, especially honoring Officer Islam for his ultimate sacrifice in protecting others.

The shooter, identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura from Las Vegas, had a history of mental health issues. According to NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, Tamura traveled across the country, with his vehicle last spotted in Columbia, New Jersey, shortly before the incident. Security footage captured him entering the lobby of 345 Park Avenue and immediately opening fire.

Tamura fired multiple rounds, hitting several individuals, including a security guard, before proceeding to the 33rd floor where he shot another victim. He was licensed to carry a concealed weapon in Nevada.

Support Resources for Employees

In light of this tragic event, Commissioner Goodell emphasized the NFL’s commitment to supporting its employees. "As you know, there are significant resources available to all employees, including grief counselors," he informed staff. "HR will be sending more information shortly on how to access these resources."

Goodell also advised employees based in New York to work remotely the following day and acknowledged that taking time off would be understandable. He assured that increased security measures would be implemented at the NFL headquarters in the coming days and weeks.

"We are a family, and we will navigate this tragedy together," Goodell concluded.
