Netflix Reveals Exciting Trailer for Roald Dahl’s ‘The Twits’ – Release Date Set for October 17
Get ready for a wild adventure as Netflix has just dropped the first trailer for The Twits, an animated adaptation of Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book. Directed and co-written by the Oscar-nominated Phil Johnston, known for his work on hits like Zootopia and Ralph Breaks the Internet, this marks the first time Dahl’s unforgettable characters, Mr. and Mrs. Twit—who are notoriously known as the meanest and smelliest couple in the world—are being brought to life on the big screen.
Johnston expressed his excitement, saying, "On behalf of the massive gaggle of weirdos who made this movie, we can’t wait for the world to meet our strange, ugly baby.” The trailer launch was accompanied by stunning key art and captivating stills from the film, giving fans a glimpse into the quirky world of The Twits.
In this imaginative reimagining, Jim and Credenza Twit run the most bizarre and dangerous amusement park, Twitlandia. When the Twits seize control of their town, two courageous children – Beesha and Bubsy – along with a family of magical Muggle-Wumps, must outsmart the Twits to save their city.
The voice cast is star-studded, featuring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Beesha and Ryan Lopez as Bubsy. Joining them are Johnny Vegas and Margo Martindale, who lend their voices to Mr. and Mrs. Twit. The ensemble also includes Emilia Clarke as Pippa, Natalie Portman as Mary Muggle Wump, Timothy Simons as Marty Muggle-Wump, Nicole Byer as Beverly Onion, Jason Mantzoukas as Mayor Wayne John John-John, Alan Tudyk as Sweet Toed Toad, Mark Proksch as Horvis Dungle, Rebecca Wisocky as Dee Dumdie-Dungle, and Charlie Berens as Gorb Klurb.
Adding to the excitement, the soundtrack for The Twits features original songs by Talking Heads frontman David Byrne and Hayley Williams of Paramore, enhancing the film’s whimsical charm. Johnston collaborates with co-directors Katie Shanahan and Todd Demong, along with co-writer Meg Favreau, to bring this animated tale to life. The animation is crafted by Jellyfish Pictures, known for their work on The Boss Baby and The Bad Guys, ensuring a visually stunning experience.
Produced by Johnston, Maggie Malone, and Daisy May West, The Twits is set to enchant audiences of all ages when it premieres on Netflix on October 17. Don’t miss out on this delightful adaptation that promises to be both hilarious and heartwarming!
