In a tense moment during Monday night’s game, Brice Turang faced a crucial decision that left fans buzzing. With the bases loaded and the Milwaukee Brewers down by one run in the bottom of the ninth inning, Turang instinctively moved out of the way of a 1-2 breaking ball. Many watching were left thinking, “Just wear it!” Had he stood his ground, the Brewers could have tied the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Unfortunately for Turang and the Brewers, the outcome was less than favorable. He swung at a pitch outside the strike zone, leading to a 1-0 lead for the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series (NLCS).

Brice Turang’s Tough Night at the Plate

In a challenging moment for the young player, social media erupted with criticism. Users who likely have never faced an 85 mph pitch were quick to voice their opinions. Comments ranged from “All he had to do was stand there and not move” to “Probably the lowest IQ at-bat I’ve ever seen.” One frustrated fan chimed in, “Dude had one job,” while another lamented, “Today’s players just don’t use common sense.”

Reflecting on the moment, Turang expressed his regret. “Well, if you see me look in the dugout, I’m thinking, ‘Damn,’” he admitted. “I know it. Everybody knows it. I couldn’t tell you why I did it. I just got out of the way. That’s just how it is.”

Support from Brewers Manager Pat Murphy

Brewers manager Pat Murphy came to Turang’s defense, acknowledging the instinctual reaction that can occur in such high-pressure situations. “When the ball is coming towards you, your natural instinct is to move,” Murphy explained. “It happens. He’ll learn from that situation. But it’s hard. Even if you try to maneuver yourself, it’s tough to get hit by the pitch because it’s so reactionary.”

Despite the backlash, some fans sympathized with Turang’s plight. One user commented, “Even if I knew a pitch was going to hit me, I don’t think I could convince my mind and body not to avoid it.” Another added, “Reflexes suck sometimes…”

Game Summary and Looking Ahead

The Dodgers triumphed with a final score of 2-1, thanks in large part to a stellar performance by Blake Snell, who pitched eight innings of scoreless ball, allowing just one hit.

Looking ahead, Game 2 of the NLCS is set to take place in Milwaukee on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. For the latest updates and live coverage, follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
