BlumFest 2025: Exciting Announcements and Exclusive Previews at New York Comic Con

At New York Comic Con, Blumhouse Productions celebrated its 15th anniversary during an electrifying panel at BlumFest 2025. Attendees were treated to sneak peeks of upcoming projects, including The Black Phone 2 and a sequel to Five Nights at Freddy’s, along with a special announcement that Megan Fox will lend her voice to FNAF 2 as Toy Chica.

Jason Blum’s Vision for the Future

The panel kicked off with Blumhouse founder Jason Blum, who expressed his pride in nurturing new talent in the horror genre. "One of my greatest achievements is empowering individuals who are new to horror, like Jordan Peele," he shared. Blum emphasized his excitement for discovering the next generation of filmmakers, stating, “Working with young people who possess vision and energy is one of the most thrilling aspects of my job.”

He also hinted at upcoming projects that fans can look forward to, including Lee Cronin’s The Mummy. “I just saw it two weeks ago, and it’s awesome, but I can’t reveal too much yet,” he teased. Additional projects mentioned included The Other Mommy, starring Jessica Chastain and directed by Rob Savage, along with the highly anticipated series Scarpetta, featuring Nicole Kidman. Blum also announced that Insidious: The Red Door will be hitting theaters next fall.

New Gaming Experience: Sleep Awake

Adding to the excitement, Nine Inch Nails’ Robin Finck introduced Sleep Awake, a groundbreaking Blumhouse game that integrates full-motion video within a 3D environment. “Set in a visually stunning world, this game features unique story-driven puzzles alongside intense stealth and chase sequences,” he described. “In this universe, people are in a frenzy to stay awake, as those who fall asleep mysteriously vanish, leaving behind nothing but shadows.”

The game’s soundtrack will be released by Milan Records, further enhancing the immersive experience.

Sneak Peeks: Five Nights at Freddy’s 2

During the latter part of the panel, director Emma Tammi, along with actors Elizabeth Lail and Matthew Lillard, revealed thrilling details about Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Tammi promised fans “a bunch more animatronics,” including appearances from Toy Freddy and Toy Bonnie. Lillard hinted at deeper lore and more jump scares, while also introducing the voice cast, which includes Megan Fox, Kellen Goff, and MatPat. “Megan’s kids are huge fans of Five Nights at Freddy’s, so she was ecstatic to voice Toy Chica. She did an incredible job balancing homage to the games with her unique interpretation,” Tammi said.

Black Phone 2: A Gripping Sequel

The Black Phone 2 segment featured cast members Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Miguel Mora, Demián Bichir, and author Joe Hill, who shared exclusive footage and discussed the emotional depth of the sequel. Hill reflected on the long journey of creating the story, saying, “I wrote this over 20 years ago for just $35, so seeing it evolve has been thrilling.” He praised the dedication of directors Scott Derrickson and Robert Cargill for their character-driven storytelling.

Hawke shared how he was captivated by Scott’s pitch for the sequel during a chance encounter at the airport. “The vision he described was breathtaking. I believe this film will delight our fans,” he stated. Thames echoed this sentiment, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to revisit these beloved characters. McGraw discussed Gwen’s transformation, highlighting her character’s journey through trauma. “She feels like an outcast now, and portraying that was challenging for me as an actor,” she shared.

Mora added, “Black Phone 2 explores the heavy themes of trauma and grief, especially for characters like Ernesto, who lost his brother in the first film. Stepping into this new perspective was challenging but rewarding.”

Conclusion

BlumFest 2025 was a thrilling celebration of horror and storytelling, showcasing Blumhouse’s commitment to innovation and new talent. With exciting projects on the horizon and a dedication to character-driven narratives, fans have much to look forward to in the coming years.
