Mattel Studios: A New Era in Film and Television Under Robbie Brenner’s Leadership
Mattel has officially unified its film and television initiatives under the newly established Mattel Studios, now led by Robbie Brenner. Previously the president of Mattel Films, Brenner has been promoted to the role of president and chief content officer of Mattel Studios, where she will spearhead exciting new projects.
Joining Brenner in this venture is Jennifer Breslow, who will take on the role of head of television. Breslow brings a wealth of experience from her previous position as the Executive Vice President of Television and Digital Media at Legendary Entertainment, where she contributed to popular series such as Fate: The Winx Saga and Firefly Lane.
The film division will be strengthened by the addition of Darian Lanzetta and Tom McNulty as senior executives. Lanzetta comes to Mattel after an impressive 12-year tenure at Creative Artists Agency (CAA), where he collaborated closely with Mattel on projects like Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Bob the Builder, and Masters of the Universe. McNulty, on the other hand, joins Mattel from MC Squared Media, boasting film credits that include The Spectacular Now and The Stand In. His background also includes significant roles at Global Produce, Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment, and Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions.
Under this new leadership, Mattel is currently in production on the much-anticipated Masters of the Universe movie, which will debut on Amazon. This marks Mattel’s first film release following the monumental success of Barbie, which grossed over $1 billion. Additionally, a Matchbox car movie featuring John Cena is in the pipeline, along with various other projects based on beloved franchises such as Barney, Thomas & Friends, Hot Wheels, and Viewfinder.
Stay tuned for more exciting developments as Mattel Studios sets the stage for a dynamic future in entertainment! This news was first reported by Deadline.
