Marvel Skips Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2023: What Fans Can Expect

Marvel Studios will not be taking the stage in the iconic Hall H at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, as confirmed by Deadline. This decision comes on the heels of Disney and Marvel announcing a new release date for their highly anticipated film, Avengers: Doomsday, which is now set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. With this timeline, Marvel plans to make a grand return to Comic-Con in 2026, building excitement and engagement with fans.

While Marvel won’t be showcasing its blockbuster lineup in Hall H this year, they will still have a presence at the convention, which runs from July 24 to 27. Fans can look forward to panels focused on Marvel’s comics and games, as well as a special booth promoting the upcoming film The Fantastic Four: First Steps, scheduled to premiere that very Friday.

Last year at Comic-Con, Marvel made headlines during its traditional Saturday night presentation, unveiling two new Avengers films—Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars—and even announcing that Robert Downey Jr. will portray Doctor Doom. The excitement surrounding these announcements has only intensified as fans await the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With Avengers: Doomsday now officially set for a December 2026 release, and Secret Wars following closely on December 17, 2027, Marvel fans have a lot to look forward to. The studio’s most recent release, Thunderbolts, which debuted on May 1, has already grossed an impressive $359.3 million worldwide.

If this absence from Hall H sounds familiar, it’s because Marvel has previously skipped this coveted slot during pivotal moments. They opted out in 2011 when the original Avengers was still in production, and again in 2015 and 2018. Additionally, the studio missed out on 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 and again this year due to Hollywood strikes.

For those eager for Marvel content, don’t miss the Fantastic Four team’s appearance at CCXP Mexico this Saturday, where fans can expect exciting updates and sneak peeks into the future of Marvel storytelling.

Stay tuned for more updates as Marvel gears up for its next big chapter!
