Buffalo Bills Legends Celebrate Marv Levy’s 100th Birthday
The Buffalo Bills family came together to honor former head coach Marv Levy as he celebrated a remarkable milestone—his 100th birthday—on Sunday. The festivities kicked off in Canton, Ohio, on Saturday, where Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas was among the many who paid tribute to Levy.
In a heartfelt video shared by the organization, Thomas expressed his admiration saying, "Just wanted to wish you a happy 100th birthday… Love you, coach." He was joined by fellow Bills legends Jim Kelly, Steve Tasker, and Andre Reed, who also shared their warm wishes.
"Wow, I cannot believe it. Happy 100th birthday!" exclaimed Kelly. "We are so blessed you’re still with us. You are the reason that we are who we are, and we’re wearing our gold jackets because of you."
Reed added, "Happy 100th birthday, Marv. Not only were you my coach, but I also consider you a mentor and a great man. To make it to 100, you’ve been doing some incredible things. Will there ever be another Marv? I don’t think so."
Tasker reflected on Levy’s impact, stating, "Marv, I can’t tell you how much you’ve meant to me and my teammates. You shaped the men we became. Happy 100th birthday, and I’ll be there when you turn 200!"
Tributes poured in on social media, highlighting Levy’s significant influence on the game and the lives of those he coached.
Marv Levy began his coaching career at St. Louis County Day School in Missouri in 1951. He entered the NFL as a kickers coach for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1969, steadily climbing the ranks to become the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs in 1978. After a stint with the Chicago Blitz in the USFL, he joined the Bills in 1986, leading the team until 1997. Although the Bills faced heartbreak by losing four consecutive Super Bowls, Levy’s leadership left an indelible mark on the franchise. His impressive record with the Bills stands at 112 wins and 70 losses, while he recorded 31 wins and 42 losses with the Chiefs.
As we celebrate Marv Levy’s incredible legacy, we look forward to many more years of gratitude and admiration for a true coaching legend.
