Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk May Join Tom Holland in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day"

Exciting news for Marvel fans! Mark Ruffalo, best known for his role as the Hulk, is rumored to make a special appearance in the upcoming fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise, titled "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film is generating buzz as discussions surrounding Ruffalo’s potential return as Bruce Banner, a.k.a. the Incredible Hulk, are underway, although a formal deal has yet to be confirmed.

In "Brand New Day," fans can look forward to the return of beloved franchise stars, including Zendaya, reprising her role as Peter Parker’s girlfriend M.J. Jones-Watson, and Jacob Batalon as his loyal best friend, Ned Leeds. Additionally, the film will introduce new characters, including Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, who recently made waves in the Disney+ series "Daredevil: Born Again" and is set for his own special. The cast will also feature Emmy winner Liza Colón-Zayas from "The Bear" and "Stranger Things" star Sadie Sink in undisclosed roles.

The screenplay for "Brand New Day" is crafted by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The dynamic relationships between Spider-Man and his older mentor figures have been a highlight throughout the franchise. From Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark in "Homecoming" to Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in "Far From Home," and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in "No Way Home," these mentor-mentee relationships have added depth to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. With Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner potentially stepping into a similar role, fans are eager to see how the Hulk fits into this vibrant universe. While the Hulk has yet to star in a solo film, he has had significant roles in "Thor: Ragnarok" and the Disney+ series "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law."

In a fun nod to fans, Sony and Marvel recently teased Holland’s new Spider-Man suit in celebration of National Spider-Man Day. A brief nine-second video showcased a close-up of the suit with the intriguing caption, "Something brand new is coming." Mark your calendars—the movie is set to swing into theaters on July 31.

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to break the news about Ruffalo’s potential casting, but Sony and Marvel have remained tight-lipped on the matter. For those interested, Ruffalo is represented by UTA and Lighthouse Management.

Stay tuned for more updates on "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" as we get closer to its release!
