Mahershala Ali Shines on the Red Carpet for Jurassic World Rebirth and Discusses the Future of Blade
On Monday, Mahershala Ali graced the red carpet in New York City for the premiere of his latest blockbuster, Jurassic World Rebirth. While celebrating this thrilling addition to the Jurassic franchise, Ali also shared insights about the much-anticipated Marvel film, Blade, which has faced a series of challenges during its development.
Since Ali was announced as the lead for Blade in 2019, the vampire thriller has seen two directors depart from the project and has been affected by the recent actors’ and writers’ strikes, as well as shifts in Disney’s studio strategy. Notably, Blade was removed from the 2025 theatrical release calendar, leaving fans eager for updates.
At the Jurassic World Rebirth premiere, Ali spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “I’m just taking it a day at a time. I’m doing the best work I can.” He mentioned his excitement for his upcoming film, Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, which he believes has fulfilled his desire for action-packed stunts. He expressed his hope for Blade, stating, “I would love for Blade to happen; we’ll see. I don’t know where Marvel is at right now. I’m just looking for the next great part, I really am.”
As for his role in Jurassic World Rebirth, Ali shares the screen with stars like Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey. He reflected on the unique challenges of filming large-scale projects, noting, “These types of films are so hard to shoot because of the way they’re shot; you can do one scene in three countries over four months. It’s not necessarily enjoyable as an actor because it’s difficult to make sense of.” However, he emphasized the rewarding aspect of seeing the finished product, praising director Gareth Edwards for his exceptional work in post-production.
Fans can catch Jurassic World Rebirth in theaters starting July 2. Stay tuned for more updates on Mahershala Ali and his exciting projects on the horizon!
