Gary Anderson Critiques Modern Darts Scene: Calls New Players "Boring"
Gary Anderson, the two-time world darts champion, didn’t hold back when discussing the current state of the darts tour, labeling the younger generation of players as "boring." Known as The Flying Scotsman, Anderson showcased his skills on day two of the tournament, advancing to the second round with a decisive win against Luke Woodhouse.
During his post-match interview, the 54-year-old veteran raised eyebrows by critiquing the new wave of darts players, particularly mentioning Luke Littler and others. He reminisced about the vibrant camaraderie of the past, saying, "The good old days were when dart players truly connected."
Reflecting on conversations with fellow players like Ian White, Adrian Lewis, Phil Taylor, and Kevin Painter, Anderson noted the stark contrast to today’s atmosphere. "Back then, we would share a good laugh together. Nowadays, it feels like no one interacts anymore. Whether you’re on a construction site or in an office, laughter is essential."
Anderson expressed his discontent with the current generation, stating, "There’s not much camaraderie anymore… the youngsters are absolutely boring. When you talk to them, they’re often glued to their phones. You need to have a laugh; without it, life can feel pretty dull."
