Kamala Harris Discusses Leadership in the Democratic Party on "The Late Show"
In a recent appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," former Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the current leadership landscape of the Democratic Party. When Colbert insisted on identifying a singular leader, Harris explained, "I think it is a mistake for us who want to figure out how to navigate this situation to put it on the shoulders of any one person. It’s really on all of our shoulders."

Recently, she also announced that she will not run for governor of California in 2026, which has led to speculation about her potential candidacy for the presidency in 2028. In the interview, Harris addressed the challenges of distinguishing herself from President Joe Biden during the 2024 campaign. She expressed her reluctance to criticize him, especially after he withdrew from the race. "I didn’t want to participate in the piling on of my boss," she said.
Additionally, Harris conveyed her astonishment at the level of capitulation she has observed since Donald Trump’s presidency began. "Perhaps it’s naive of me, but I believed there were many who should be guardians of our democracy and our system, and I didn’t see the capitulation coming," she remarked.
