Jon Fletcher’s Bold Film Debut: The Dosage Makes the Poison
What began as an intriguing social media experiment has blossomed into a remarkable feature film, The Dosage Makes the Poison, directed and starred in by Jon Fletcher. Known for his roles in popular series like Bosch, The Rook, and The Messengers, Fletcher recently completed a whirlwind seven-day shoot, capturing the entire creative journey on video.
Fletcher sparked this unconventional project with a bold question posed on Instagram on August 1, 2025: "Can I make a feature film in just 50 days, starting from scratch, and have it screened at Sundance?" After wrapping up filming, he reflected on the experience, saying, “I can’t even explain it. I just woke up and did it. I don’t think I slept for the past six weeks.”
His goal extends beyond simply creating a film; Fletcher aims to inspire conversations around the ever-changing landscape of filmmaking and encourage fellow artists to pursue their visions without waiting for external approval. Starting with nothing—no script, no concept—on Day 1, he invited his social media followers to join him in refining the creative process. The result is a deeply personal film that delves into Fletcher’s own struggles with depression.
“I hadn’t seen anything that truly captured what depression feels like to me,” Fletcher explains. “It’s a battle against yourself, a conversation that is incredibly isolating and often ignored. No one else can hear it, see it, or participate in it but you. It’s the most dangerous dialogue you can have, as no one listens to you quite like you do.”
The Dosage Makes the Poison is not just a film; it’s a reflection of Fletcher’s journey and a testament to the power of creativity. The film is produced by Fletcher and Beth Riesgraf, who also served as the director of photography. Executive producers include Jeremy Landon Hays, Louis Pannullo, and Hunter G. Davis, with Fletcher represented by Industry Entertainment.
Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking project, as Fletcher hopes to share his unique vision with audiences everywhere.
