Everton in Talks with Manchester City for Jack Grealish Loan Deal
Everton has officially entered discussions with Manchester City to secure a season-long loan for Jack Grealish. The Merseyside club is eager to bring the talented 29-year-old winger to Goodison Park. However, this potential transfer is not without its challenges. Grealish’s hefty weekly salary of £300,000 poses a considerable obstacle. Nevertheless, sources indicate that the former Aston Villa star may be willing to negotiate a reduction in his salary to facilitate a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.

The Toffees’ interest in Grealish comes on the heels of their unsuccessful attempt to sign Southampton winger Tyler Dibling, who was priced at around £50 million. This setback has prompted Everton to explore other options, with Grealish now emerging as a primary target.
Over the past year, Grealish has found himself on the fringes of Manchester City’s squad. He was notably left out of the club’s squad for the Club World Cup this summer, highlighting his diminished role within Pep Guardiola’s plans. The England international started just seven Premier League matches during the 2024-25 season, and his limited involvement was further underscored when he remained on the bench during City’s FA Cup final loss to Crystal Palace. Additionally, he was absent from the matchday squad in the season finale against Fulham.
Despite the challenges, Grealish has had a remarkable journey since joining Manchester City for a record £100 million in the summer of 2021. His six-year contract runs until 2027, and he initially enjoyed tremendous success, winning Premier League titles in each of his first three seasons. His contributions were crucial during City’s historic treble-winning campaign in 2022-23, where he played in 50 matches, starting every knockout fixture on the way to their first Champions League title.
However, Grealish’s influence has waned, as he now finds himself behind the likes of Phil Foden, Savinho, and Jeremy Doku in the winger pecking order. Guardiola has addressed the speculation surrounding Grealish’s future, stating, "I’m the person who fought for him to come here and to stay here this season and next." The City manager emphasized that any future decisions will be managed by the club’s football director and agents.
Interest in Grealish is not limited to Everton; several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, are keeping an eye on his situation. Additionally, his former Aston Villa manager Dean Smith, now with Charlotte FC, has been in touch with Grealish about a potential move to MLS but acknowledges that the player has "unfinished business" in England.
