Glen Powell is steering clear of the superhero genre for now, and he recently shared his thoughts on why he turned down a role in the upcoming film Jurassic World Rebirth. In an interview with Empire Magazine, the talented actor, known for his role in Edgar Wright’s remake of The Running Man, expressed that he doesn’t resonate with superhero characters. Instead, he finds more appeal in portraying “ordinary” individuals facing extraordinary challenges.
“I just don’t identify with people with superpowers for the most part,” Powell explained. “I’m drawn to the stories of the ordinary person battling against overwhelming odds. The idea of someone being hunted by the entire world, struggling to survive and protect their family—that’s a powerful and relatable narrative.”
Despite being a popular choice among fans for various superhero roles online, Powell has no plans to dive into that realm. He revealed that he recently turned down a role in the 2025 film Jurassic World Rebirth because he couldn’t envision himself fitting into the movie. “Sometimes you have to close your eyes and imagine yourself in that film, and if it doesn’t feel right, you just know,” he said. “You realize there’s someone else who could bring more energy and authenticity to the role than I could. It’s about being realistic, even if it means stepping away from an opportunity.”
