Disney+ has officially announced the highly anticipated release date for Freakier Friday, the hilarious body-swap comedy reuniting Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. Mark your calendars for November 12, 2025, when Freakier Friday will make its streaming debut on Disney+.
This exciting sequel to the beloved 2003 classic Freaky Friday brings back Lohan as Anna Coleman and Curtis as her mother, Tess Coleman. Fast forward 22 years, and both actresses reprise their iconic roles in a fresh storyline that introduces a multigenerational twist.
According to Disney’s official synopsis, the film picks up years after Tess and Anna have navigated their own identity crises. Now, Anna is a mother herself, with a daughter named Harper and a soon-to-be stepdaughter, Lily. As they face the challenges of blending two families, Tess and Anna learn that the magic of their original body-swap may just happen again.
Freakier Friday features a talented new cast, including Julia Butters as Harper, Sophia Hammons as Lily, Manny Jacinto as Eric Reyes (Anna’s fiancé and Lily’s father), and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Ella, a singer collaborating with Anna. The sequel also sees the return of familiar faces from the original film, such as Mark Harmon as Ryan Volvo, Christina Vidal Mitchell as Maddie, and Chad Michael Murray as Jake Austin, among others.
Directed by Nisha Ganatra and written by Jordan Weiss, Freakier Friday is produced by Curtis, Kristin Burr, and Andrew Gunn, with Lohan, Nathan Kelly, and Ann Marie Sanderlin serving as executive producers.
Since its release in August, Freakier Friday has already grossed an impressive $153 million worldwide against an estimated budget of $45 million. The film currently holds a 74% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 224 reviews, with ComingSoon’s Jonathan Sim giving it a score of 7 out of 10, praising it as “pure joy from start to finish.”
