Shark Attack: Pregnant Wife of Former NBA Star Danilo Gallinari Shares Harrowing Experience
In a shocking turn of events, Eleonora Boi, the pregnant wife of former NBA player Danilo Gallinari, revealed on Friday that she was attacked by a shark while vacationing in Puerto Rico. The incident unfolded on a busy beach, where Boi was enjoying a day in the sun.
Taking to Instagram, she shared a candid photo of herself in a hospital bed, tongue sticking out, and described the terrifying experience as the "worst day of my life." Boi, who is expecting her third child with the former New York Knicks forward, expressed her relief that both she and her baby are safe.
"I never imagined I would be attacked by a shark, especially so close to shore on a crowded beach," she shared in her post. "I was quickly rushed for medical help, and thankfully, the surgery to treat my injured leg went well. Now, it’s all about recovering from this frightening ordeal."
In a lighthearted moment, she even joked about the possibility of taking legal action against the shark and expressed gratitude to her husband for his support during this challenging time. Reports indicate that she sustained a wound on her thigh from the encounter.
Authorities are now investigating the species of shark involved in the incident. Nilda Jiménez, a biologist with the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, commented on the situation, stating, "Based on the photographs we received, we believe the characteristics of the bite are consistent with those of a shark. However, further analysis is necessary to confirm this." Medical personnel have been asked to provide samples for examination.
While Danilo Gallinari, who recently played for the Milwaukee Bucks, has not publicly commented on the incident, he has had a remarkable NBA career spanning from 2008 to 2024, playing for eight different teams and averaging 14.9 points and 4.7 rebounds over 777 games.
