Zebra on the Loose in Tennessee: Authorities Respond to Unusual Situation
In an unusual turn of events, a zebra has escaped from its owners in Tennessee, prompting a swift response from local authorities. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office reported that the zebra was "obtained" by its owners on Friday night and was reported missing the following day.
The black-and-white-striped animal found its way into a wooded area near Interstate 24, causing quite a stir as it roamed freely between the Joe B. Jackson Parkway and Epps Mill Road exits on Saturday afternoon.
Deputy Ryan Keach spotted the zebra near the interstate and took immediate action to ensure the safety of motorists. According to the sheriff’s office, one lane of traffic was initially closed, but as the zebra continued to dart across the highway, both eastbound lanes toward Chattanooga and westbound lanes toward Nashville were shut down.
Drivers faced unexpected chaos as the zebra ran alongside vehicles, creating a unique scene on the busy freeway. The sheriff’s office has not disclosed how the owners acquired the zebra or where it was being kept prior to its escape.
