In a recent panel discussion about her film “Eternity,” which opened the Hamptons International Film Festival, Elizabeth Olsen expressed her strong desire to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). “It’s something I love, and I always want to come back to it,” she shared, as reported by People. Olsen reflected on her journey over the past five years, noting the incredible opportunities she’s had to explore her character, Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch. “There are still storylines from the comics that I’d love to bring to life, and I know fans would appreciate that,” she added.
The actress, who first debuted as Wanda in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” emphasized the importance of creating content for fans rather than critics. Her portrayal of Wanda garnered significant acclaim, including an Emmy nomination for her role in the Disney+ series “WandaVision” in 2021. Although Wanda’s last appearance was in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” in 2022, where Olsen confirmed her character’s death, she acknowledged the unique possibilities the multiverse presents. “The stories have only gotten richer for my character, and I’ve truly enjoyed the journey,” she remarked.
Olsen also addressed the topic of superhero fatigue, something Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is keen to address. “While some franchises may tire audiences, there’s a familial aspect to these stories that keeps them special,” she explained. She expressed her appreciation for the job security and consistency that working with Marvel provides, stating, “There’s nothing quite like it, and I might not find that again unless I’m part of another ongoing series.”
Reflecting on her previous statements, Olsen reiterated that her involvement with Marvel has offered her a sense of stability that allows her the freedom to pursue diverse roles. “It’s given me a feeling of security in my life, which has opened doors for me,” she concluded.
“Eternity,” which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last month, is set for a limited theatrical release on November 14, before expanding to a wider audience on November 26.
