Exciting Premiere of Scott Cooper’s Biopic "Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere" at the New York Film Festival

Get ready for an unforgettable cinematic experience as Scott Cooper’s highly anticipated biopic, "Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere," featuring Jeremy Allen White, makes its debut as the Spotlight Gala selection at the New York Film Festival on September 28. The iconic Bruce Springsteen will be present for the premiere!

This moving film, adapted from Warren Zanes’s best-selling book "Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska," beautifully captures a pivotal moment in Springsteen’s career during the early 1980s. It explores the artist’s journey as he navigates the complexities of newfound fame while crafting the deeply personal acoustic songs for his legendary album "Nebraska." At the same time, he was recording demos for "Born in the U.S.A.," an album that would propel him to international superstardom.

"Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere" offers an intimate look at Springsteen’s songwriting process, shedding light on his struggles with familial challenges and personal depression. NYFF describes the film as “more than just a tour de force for its incandescent star—it’s a reminder that the reason we love this seemingly larger-than-life hero is that he’s always been palpably human.”

The film, produced by 20th Century Studios, is slated for theatrical release on October 24. Alongside Jeremy Allen White, the supporting cast includes Jeremy Strong as Springsteen’s long-time manager and co-producer Jon Landau, along with Stephen Graham and Gaby Hoffmann portraying his parents, and Paul Walter Hauser, David Krumholtz, and Odessa Young in additional roles. The film is produced by Cooper, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Eric Robinson, and Scott Stuber, with executive production from Tracey Landon and Zanes.

Scott Cooper, known for his works like "Crazy Heart" and "Black Mass," expressed his excitement about the film’s premiere at the festival, stating, “The New York Film Festival has always felt like a spiritual home for the kind of cinema I believe in. Arriving with a film about Bruce Springsteen—whose music has profoundly influenced my storytelling—is beyond my wildest imagination. Exploring Bruce’s world and spirit has been a profoundly creative experience, and I feel honored to share it with audiences in a city that embodies artistic possibility.”

Springsteen himself has shown support for the film, which is already generating buzz among critics. NYFF Artistic Director Dennis Lim praised the film, stating, “Anchored by Jeremy Allen White’s revelatory performance, this year’s Spotlight Gala selection is a fitting tribute to a living legend.”

Mark your calendars for the New York Film Festival, running from September 26 to October 13, and don’t miss the opportunity to witness this remarkable homage to one of America’s greatest rock icons. For further details, check out the festival’s Main Slate selections!
