The recent auction of the David Lynch Collection, conducted by Julien’s Auctions in partnership with Turner Classic Movies, generated an impressive $4.25 million, showcasing the immense cultural impact of the iconic filmmaker. With nearly 450 unique items up for bid, the auction featured memorabilia from Lynch’s celebrated works, including the cult classic TV series “Twin Peaks” and renowned films like “Mulholland Drive,” “Eraserhead,” and “Dune.” Among the standout pieces was Lynch’s director’s chair, which made a special appearance at Variety’s office before the auction, selling for an astonishing $91,000.

  • Unfinished Film Scripts: A collection of 11 scripts from Lynch’s unfinished film project, "Ronnie Rocket: The Absurd Mystery of the Strange Forces of Existence," fetched an impressive $195,000.

  • "Mulholland Drive" Memorabilia: A trio of scripts from "Mulholland Drive" sold for $104,000. Additional items from the film, such as the prop menus from Winkie’s diner, were auctioned for $7,800, while an original diptych featuring Naomi Watts and Laura Harring as Betty Elms and Rita brought in $16,250.

  • "Twin Peaks" Pilot Script: A copy of the "Twin Peaks" pilot episode script—originally titled “Northwest Passage”—sold for $91,000.

  • "Eraserhead" Print: Lynch’s personal 35mm print of his debut feature "Eraserhead" sold for $52,000.

  • Unique Taxidermy: Two taxidermy deer heads from Lynch’s home, including one featured in the first episode of “Twin Peaks” season two, sold for $16,250.

  • Espresso Equipment: For coffee enthusiasts, Lynch’s La Marzocco GS/3 home espresso machine reached $45,500, while his Mazzer mini electronic commercial espresso grinder sold for $7,800.

  • Furnishings: Unique furniture pieces included a hot pink velvet sofa that sold for $11,700 and a pair of limited edition Domeau & Peres Silencio Club chairs, which went for $16,250. An early Herman Miller Coconut lounge chair and ottoman, originally designed by George Nelson in 1956, sold for $22,750.
