Daisy Edgar-Jones and Emilia Jones to Star in Exciting Period Revenge Thriller ‘Bad Bridgets’
In an exciting development for film enthusiasts, Daisy Edgar-Jones, known for her role in Twisters, and Emilia Jones, celebrated for her performance in CODA, are set to lead the cast of the upcoming period revenge thriller titled ‘Bad Bridgets’. This project marks the second feature film from Rich Peppiatt, the talented director who previously delivered the British hit Kneecap.
International Sales and Production Details
FilmNation will oversee international sales, while WME Independent is handling domestic sales for this highly anticipated film. ‘Bad Bridgets’ is scheduled for a formal introduction at the November American Film Market. The production is a collaboration between LuckyChap and Coup d’Etat, Peppiatt’s own production company.
The film is already well into development, with notable talent on board, including James Price, an Oscar-winning production designer known for Poor Things, and costume designer Kate Hawley, recognized for her work on Crimson Peak. The producers are planning to begin shooting in Northern Ireland and Ireland in the spring of 2026.
A Story Rooted in History
The script for ‘Bad Bridgets’ draws inspiration from the book ‘Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women’ by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick. This insightful work explores the lives of Irish women emigrants considered troublemakers, revealing that at one point, the number of Irish women in prison surpassed that of Irish men—some even incarcerated for mere "stubbornness."
According to the producers, the narrative kicks off with a mysterious letter that propels a young woman on a treacherous journey from famine-stricken Ireland to 19th-century New York City. There, she finds herself amidst the Irish Bridgets, who are known for their rebellious spirit and penchant for causing chaos.
Rich Peppiatt’s Remarkable Track Record
Rich Peppiatt’s Kneecap achieved a historic milestone as the most nominated debut in BAFTA history, securing seven British Independent Film Awards, five IFTAs, and recognition as the breakthrough British/Irish filmmaker at the London Critics Circle. He is represented by WME, Anonymous Content, and MMB Creative.
Talent Behind the Film
Daisy Edgar-Jones is represented by UTA, B-Side Management, and Sloane Offer, while Emilia Jones is represented by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and the UK’s Artist Rights Group.
