On Sunday, the talented cast of the beloved Disney Channel Original Movie trilogy came together to honor the late actor, who tragically passed away at the young age of 20 due to an epileptic seizure in 2019. Boyce first captivated audiences as Carlos, the son of Cruella de Vil, in the original 2015 fantasy musical.
Sofia Carson shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, posting a behind-the-scenes photo with the caption, “Our Angel. Forever.” Booboo Stewart echoed these sentiments on his Instagram Story, celebrating their shared memories. Sarah Jeffery also took a moment to reflect, sharing a nostalgic photo with Boyce from 2014, stating, “on a BC ferry to Victoria to shoot more of Descendants. Life is good. Miss you Cam.”
Cameron Boyce was not only cherished for his role in Descendants but also recognized for his performances in Grown Ups, Jessie, and Mrs. Fletcher. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 6, 2019, due to complications from epilepsy, an ongoing medical condition that was publicly acknowledged by his family. In a heartfelt statement, a family representative expressed, “It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”
In honor of Cameron’s legacy, his family established the Cameron Boyce Foundation. This organization is dedicated to raising awareness and funding research for epilepsy in hopes of finding a cure. Through their efforts, Boyce’s spirit continues to inspire compassion and change in the world.
