Jacob Misiorowski Shines in MLB Debut with Milwaukee Brewers
Milwaukee Brewers fans have reason to celebrate after the successful call-up of pitcher Jacob Misiorowski last week. The talented 23-year-old made a remarkable MLB debut on June 12, throwing five no-hit innings before being sidelined by cramps. In his second outing on Friday, Misiorowski nearly achieved a perfect game, carrying it into the seventh inning against the Minnesota Twins.
During this impressive performance, Misiorowski celebrated a significant milestone by becoming the first starting pitcher in the modern era (since 1900) to kick off his career with an astonishing 11 consecutive no-hit innings. Despite walking Byron Buxton, his streak ended when Matt Wallner hit a home run just beyond the right-field wall. Misiorowski left the game to a standing ovation after throwing 86 pitches, with 60 of them for strikes, while the Brewers held a commanding 8-2 lead.
Reflecting on his experience, Misiorowski shared, "I think this is exactly how I ever dreamed of it coming along. It’s exciting."
In this game, the towering 6-foot-7 right-hander struck out six batters, with his fastball reaching speeds of up to 102.1 mph. He consistently hit triple digits, clocking in at 99.9 mph on four occasions and exceeding 100 mph 29 times—more than doubling his previous outing’s tally of 14.
According to OptaSTATS, Misiorowski is the only player since 1900 to record more wins (two) than hits allowed (one) in his first two career starts.
The Brewers made headlines with Misiorowski’s promotion, leading to the demotion of veteran pitcher Aaron Civale to the bullpen. Following this change, Civale requested a trade, which was granted, sending him to the struggling Chicago White Sox.
As of now, the Milwaukee Brewers are 41-35 and trail the Chicago Cubs by 4.5 games in the NL Central.
