In a significant turn in the ongoing legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, the actress’s legal team has taken decisive action by filing a motion for a protective order. This motion seeks to prevent Baldoni’s team from accessing Lively’s text messages with pop icon Taylor Swift. Lively’s representatives have labeled Baldoni’s request as a “tactic” aimed at dragging Swift into the case, as Lively aims to minimize her friend’s involvement.

### Blake Lively Seeks to Shield Taylor Swift’s Texts from Justin Baldoni’s Legal Team

On June 13, Lively’s attorneys submitted the motion to New York Judge Lewis J. Liman, arguing that the messages exchanged between Lively and Swift are not pertinent to the core issues of her initial complaint against Baldoni. They further asserted that these texts are irrelevant to Baldoni’s lawsuit, which has already seen significant developments.

Baldoni initially issued a subpoena to Swift in May 2025, claiming that Lively attempted to leverage Swift’s considerable influence to dominate the creative direction of the film adaptation of “It Ends With Us.” However, he later retracted the subpoena within the same month.

A spokesperson for Lively explained the rationale behind the protective order to Page Six, stating that Baldoni’s pursuit of these messages is “duplicative, cumulative, and unnecessary.” The representative added, “The ongoing attempts to use one of the world’s biggest stars as a public relations tactic reflect a dramatic unraveling and distract from the fact that Justin Baldoni’s lawsuits against Ms. Lively, Ryan Reynolds, their publicist, and the New York Times have been entirely dismissed.”

Recently, a New York judge dismissed Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds, giving the filmmaker until June 23 to file an amended complaint. This latest development marks a pivotal moment in the unfolding legal saga, and fans are closely watching how it will play out.
