Exciting Update: Ang Lee’s Upcoming Film "Old Gold Mountain" Delayed to Next Spring
Sources close to the highly anticipated film "Old Gold Mountain," directed by the acclaimed Ang Lee, have revealed that the production start date is being pushed back. According to insiders, Lee is currently fine-tuning various creative aspects of the project. Given that filming will take place in Northern California, the new schedule is set for next spring.
"Old Gold Mountain" is an adaptation of C. Pam Zhang’s debut novel, "How Much of These Hills Is Gold." The screenplay, crafted by renowned author Chang-rae Lee, narrates the poignant journey of two orphaned immigrant children, Lucy and Sam. The 2020 novel explores their struggles as they navigate a world that denies their existence after becoming orphaned. In a desperate bid to escape the harsh realities of their Western mining town, they embark on a quest to bury their father, hoping this act will free them from their turbulent past.
Throughout their journey, Lucy and Sam encounter haunting remnants of nature, such as giant buffalo bones and tiger paw prints, alongside the harsh realities of a ravaged landscape. The story delves into themes of family secrets, sibling rivalry, and a search for hope in a daunting future.
Produced by Fifth Season and The Ink Factory, "Old Gold Mountain" promises to be another remarkable entry in Ang Lee’s illustrious filmography. Best known for his Oscar-winning films like "Brokeback Mountain," "Life of Pi," and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," Lee is also working on an exciting biopic about the legendary Bruce Lee.
