Exciting Changes at Amazon MGM Studios in the Nordics
Amazon MGM Studios is undergoing significant changes in the Nordics as Emilia Widstrand steps in as the new head of Nordic Originals, succeeding Karin Lindström, who is transitioning to a new opportunity outside of Amazon. This announcement was shared internally by Tara Erer, the head of Northern Europe Originals, highlighting the importance of this leadership shift.
In her message, Erer expressed gratitude for Lindström’s contributions since she joined the team in 2021, stating, “Karin has played a pivotal role in building our Nordic Originals team from the ground up. Her exceptional creative instincts, remarkable leadership, and unwavering positive energy have made her an invaluable member of our team.”
Lindström has been instrumental in the success of several popular shows, including LOL: Last One Laughing, Roast on the Coast, and the upcoming titles Snake Killer and Vaka. Erer emphasized Lindström’s passion and expertise in pioneering new projects for Amazon MGM Studios.
With Lindström’s departure, Erer is excited to announce that Emilia Widstrand will take over as the new head of the Nordic team. Widstrand has been with Amazon for nearly four years and has contributed to successful projects like Blindspot and Vaka. Erer noted, “Emilia’s creative vision and leadership will surely drive our Nordic slate to new heights.”
The Nordic region holds significant strategic importance for Amazon MGM Studios, especially as the company has been restructuring its operations in Europe over the past few years. Recently, Amazon MGM Studios divided Europe into two clusters, allocating new investments to emerging markets, including the Nordics, while scaling back funding in regions like Africa and MENA.
