Brody King Makes a Statement at AEW’s Grand Slam Mexico with "Abolish ICE" T-Shirt

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Brody King made headlines during the "Grand Slam Mexico" event held in Mexico City on Wednesday night. King stood out in the ring wearing an "Abolish ICE" T-shirt, a bold statement amid a thrilling 14-person tag-team match. Teaming up with notable wrestlers such as Adam Cole, Atlantis, Atlantis Jr., Bandido, Daniel Garcia, and Templario, King’s team triumphed over their opponents, which included Dax Harwood, Hechicero, Josh Alexander, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, Lance Archer, and Volador Jr.

The electrifying event took place at Arena México and showcased talent from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), one of Mexico’s premier wrestling promotions.

King’s choice of apparel resonated with his support for protesters in Los Angeles advocating against recent ICE raids in the city. These protests have turned violent at times, leading to injuries among law enforcement, arson of autonomous vehicles, and looting incidents. In a show of solidarity, he shared a post from Mexican makeup artist Jose Corella, emphasizing the moral and legal implications of the situation.

The message stated, "What’s happening in Los Angeles right now is not only morally reprehensible – it’s legally indefensible. This is a sanctuary city, democratically voted on and enacted into law by its residents, not by political opportunists."

Corella further clarified, "Being undocumented in the United States is not a criminal offense. It is a civil violation, comparable to minor infractions such as running a stop sign or selling unlicensed merchandise." The post condemned the actions of armed agents detaining individuals without due process, labeling such acts as "armed kidnapping."

King’s stance aligns with sentiments expressed by other athletes, including Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Enrique Hernandez and Angel City FC from the National Women’s Soccer League, who have similarly shared messages of support.

In contrast, former President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his support for ICE operations in Los Angeles, calling for an expansion of their efforts to other cities.
